Observation entries

Six paired entry pages: sky half + landscape half

Each entry occupies a "sky" page (date, time, location, equipment, constellation / planet / deep-sky / satellites / meteors logs, sky sketch frame, track notes + sketch frame) and a "landscape" page (same meta repeated, landscape observation rows, landscape sketch frame, weather box). Six pairs = roughly a half-year of weekly stargazing.

  • Sky fields

6 fillable rows per entry · open-ended notes

  • Track fields

6 fillable rows per entry · open-ended notes

  • Landscape fields

6 fillable rows per entry · open-ended notes

Weather box

Nine fields, no dropdowns to wrestle with

Sky cover (clear / few / scattered / broken / overcast), wind speed + direction, ambient temperature, humidity, moon phase + illumination %, Antoniadi seeing (I through V), and 1-10 transparency. The renderer prints hint labels under the table so you do not need to memorize the scale.

  • Sky cover · select-hint · free-form
  • Wind (mph or kph) · free-form
  • Wind direction · free-form
  • Temperature (F or C) · free-form
  • Humidity (%) · free-form

Homestead checklist

Seven groups, fifty-three items, dual-purpose format

Supplies, water, food, power & light, shelter & cooling, communication, and first aid. Each item is a checkbox + a notes column (quantity, last-tested date, owner, vendor) so the page doubles as a quarterly review record. Print fresh copies at the start of each season.

  • Supplies · 7 items
  • Water · 7 items
  • Food · 7 items
  • Power & light · 7 items
  • Shelter & cooling · 7 items
  • Communication · 7 items
  • First aid · 8 items

Back cover

Five quarterly review prompts

Use the back cover once per quarter. Two minutes per prompt; the page gives you a year-end document that reads like a journal of how your off-grid life actually went.

  1. What surprised me this quarter?
  2. What worked better than I expected?
  3. What would I change if I started over?
  4. What did I buy that I should NOT have bought?
  5. What do I still need to acquire for next quarter?

Dual purpose

Filled in or printed, your choice

The observation half benefits from AcroForm fields you can type into in any PDF viewer. The homestead half works the same way, but is also designed to print cleanly as a paper checklist — checkboxes, item text, and notes column line up at the same width so a quarter-end paper copy prints as fast as a digital fill.

Buy direct

When you turn on direct checkout

The Buy Direct chip on each tool opens a Stripe-hosted checkout that is the only purchase path. It only works once the deploy's Stripe keys are wired and the operator runs the steps below.

  1. Finish Stripe onboarding on the Polsia dashboard Payments page (Connection + branding) — direct checkout stays gated until this completes.
  2. Set ORDER_TOKEN_SECRET on the deploy env (openssl rand -hex 32 → store via set_app_secret) so download links survive a restart.
  3. Redeploy: polsia.toml ships npx prisma db push at build, so the Order table lands automatically.
  4. Smoke-test one $1 charge end-to-end: open /tools/<slug>, click "Buy direct", submit a known email, complete Stripe checkout, land on /checkout/success, click the download button, confirm /api/orders/download streams the unlocked PDF.
  5. Watch the orders feed: prisma.order rows flip pending → paid; the receipt email fires from the post-payment helper.

Direct checkout is the only purchase path — Stripe-hosted with a secure download link emailed the moment payment clears.
